EPL ‘You’ll not play World Cup’ – Van Gaal blocks Dutch star from joining Man United

Former Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal has blocked Dutch star, Jurrien Timber from joining the club.

The player has reportedly rejected a move to Manchester United, despite efforts by his former boss, Erik ten Hag to bring him to Old Trafford.

Timber is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the Dutch league and Ten Hag was keen on bringing him along to Old Trafford.

However, Dutch journalist, Marcel van der Kraan has revealed that Van Gaal, who was once sacked by Manchester United, made it clear to the 21-year-old Ajax Star that he should stay at his current club for another season.

Van Gaal, who is Netherlands’ national team coach, is said to have told the player he would miss the upcoming World Cup in Qatar if he moves to Manchester United.

The player’s representatives had held talks with United but a move was scuppered by Van Gaal.

“The player was ready, I think, to come,” Van der Kraan told Sky Sports.

“His agents went over to London to Manchester United’s offices two weeks ago and I think they had very good talks. Money was never a problem.

“But then one man turned up… Louis van Gaal. [He] told the player in the Dutch camp, ‘look, if you go there, I think your chances could be limited of playing for Holland in the World Cup, three months after the season starts’.

“For Jurrien Timber, a great Ajax-style player, a Ten Hag-style player, that was a bit of a blow,” he said.

Aubameyang wins league title despite playing just 8 minutes

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has become a league champion this season.

This is despite the Gabon international playing just eight minutes of football.

Aubameyang was recognised as part of LaLiga champions Barcelona’s title-winning squad despite the former Borussia Dortmund star being a Chelsea player since last summer.

The Catalans were handed the Spanish top-flight title on Sunday after a 4-2 win at Espanyol.

The African star was part of Xavi’s side at the very start of the season before he joined Chelsea and came off the bench for a late cameo in their opening game against Rayo Vallecano.

In the top flight of English football, players need to have made a minimum of five league appearances to be considered a member of the title-winning squad.

But in Spain and elsewhere in Europe that is not the case, meaning that Aubameyang’s eight minutes game for Barca are all he needed to be crowned a champion this term.

Aubameyang has endured a dreadful season at Stamford Bridge, having scored just three goals in 21 appearances.
